THE much awaited 85th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament is set to unfold later next month.

A highly reliable Malaya-Business Insight insider said yesterday the tilt will likely start on Feb. 25– contrary to earlier reports it will kick off on Feb. 11.

National University will defend the title it won in a historic season last year.

The Lady Bulldogs completed a season sweep and reached the Promise Land after a 65-year title drought.

Lady Bulldog open spiker and then rookie Michaela Belen also became the first UAAP player in the women’s division to bag the Rookie of the Year plum and season MVP plums.

The Sampaloc-based crew also had a fruitful off-season, capturing the Shakey’s Super League last November and toughened up via a Japan training camp.

The league’s men’s volleyball tournament is also expected to make a return next month after being sidelined for two years.

The men’s meet was last played in 2020.

The Bulldogs are also looking to retain their crown and complete a three-peat.

Just like their women counterparts, the Bulldogs also had a busy off season, joining and winning various leagues.

NU emerged as champion in the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference and then claimed the V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge throne last year.
