AS part of its build-up for the hosting of the Southeast Asia Trail Running Cup next month, the Philippine Trail Running Association and the Baguio City government have signed an agreement to promote trail running in the country’s summer capital.
Signing the agreement were Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Mayor and Philippine Trail Running Vice President and Secretary General Tin Ferrea.
Under the deal, PHILTRA will assist the Baguio City government in promoting and staging trail running competitions so that they meet international standards.
Magalong pledged to provide logistical assistance and other support for trail running events.
“This partnership marks a significant step forward in our efforts to promote and enhance the trail running experience in Baguio City,” said Ferrera. “By working hand in hand with the Baguio City government, we aim to create memorable and safe events.
“This will t not only showcase the natural beauty of Baguio but also contribute to the local economy and community development.”
“The city finds that the accreditation of trail running activities organized by PHILTRA aligns with the city’s goal of promoting sports tourism in the country,” Magalong noted.
He welcomed the national athletes and coaches gearing up for the SEA Trail Running Cup scheduled from June 19 to 23 in Bontoc.
National coach and former marathon runner Christabel Martes thanked Magalong for having Baguio as the national trail running training camp.
