TRAP shooter Hagen Topacio failed to sustain his fiery form last Monday and slipped to 38th place after shooting 21 and 24 points in the third and fourth rounds of the ISSF Final Olympic Qualification Shotgun competition at the Lusail Shooting Range in Doha, Qatar.

Tied for first after scoring a total of 50 points in the first two rounds, Topacio missed the second, 13th, 21st and 23rd clay targets in the third round and the third clay in the fourth to fall in the overall standings with 95 points in the meet serving as the last world Olympic shotgun qualifier for the Paris Olympics.

There were 10 shooters tied from 31st to 40th spots with 95 points in the competition paced by Italians Mauro de Filippis and Massimo Fabrizi, a London Olympic Games silver medalist, who had 99 points each.

Beijing Olympian Eric Ang scored 23 and 22 points for a four-round tally of 90 points and tumbled into 110th place.

The fifth and final round of 25 clays was scheduled yesterday, with the top eight finalists advancing to the championship round where the top two finishers clinch slots in the Paris Olympic Games in July.
