JOHN Cabang Tolentino and Lauren Hoffman remained steady in their respective events while Eric Cray, Robyn Brown and Kristina Knott slipped a bit in the latest World Athletics Olympic qualifying ratings released last Wednesday.
Tolentino slid just two notches to No. 27 in the men’s 110-meter hurdles while Hoffman dropped one rung to No. 28 in the women’s 400-meter hurdles where 40 spots are at stake for the Paris Olympic Games in July.
Also an aspirant in the same event as Hoffman, Brown dropped four spots to No. 39 while Knott slid to No. 41 in the women’s 200-meter dash which has 48 slots up for grabs.
Bidding for a second Olympic appearance after making his debut in the 2016 Rio Summer Games, Eric Cray also was on the fringe outside of the men’s 400-meter hurdles at No. 45.
Long jumper Janry Ubas, who is now competing in Europe, was ranked No. 36 where only 32 slots are being contested for Paris. — Bong Pedralvez
