CAN powerhouse TNT get the job done anew?
The Triple Giga led three other squads who advanced to the Leg 3 quarterfinals of the PBA 3×3 Second Conference yesterday at the Ayala Malls Fairview Terraces.
TNT, along with Meralco, Pioneer Elastoseal, and Cavitex all clinched slots in the knockout stage after emerging on top of their respective brackets on the first day of pool play.
The Bolts completed a sweep of all its three games in Pool B, capped by a dominant 21-9 win over San Miguel behind the 10 points and six rebounds of guard Jeff Manday.
The Triple Giga, winner of the first two Legs this conference, did the same in Pool A including a thrilling 21-19 decision over guest team MCFASolver as Chester Saldua and Gryann Mendoza took charge down the stretch to score the winning points for the telecommunication franchise.
The triumph by TNT over Tech Centrale eliminated the guest team (0-2), and gave the Braves (1-1) a safe passage to the Last Eight. Cavitex lost to the Triple Giga 17-20 but won over MCFASolver 21-18.
In Pool C, Pioneer Elastoseal was also perfect with a 2-0 record and already assured of advancing to the next round following back-to-back victories over Ginebra 16-12 and Blackwater 18-17.
The remaining four quarterfinal slots are still being contested at press time amongst Terrafirma, Northport, and San Miguel in Pool B, and Purefoods, Blackwater, and the Kings in Pool C.
Eight teams will clash in the knockout stage set today at the same venue where the champion team gets the P100,000 prize money.
