According to PSL president Rocky Chan, the tourney will be an “invitational pocket tournament” and will allow two imports and one Filipino-foreigner for the participating teams.

“It’s gonna be an exciting week-long tournament. So, there’s quite a number of teams already confirmed to participate in this very big event in Quezon,” Chan said last Wednesday during the meet’s launch at the Seda Vertis North.

“We are also very happy na kami ang napili ni Cong. Jayjay to partner with in this tournament and also sa pagsali ng Quezon Province sa Pilipinas Super League. We are looking for a long-term partnership ang sports program in the province of Quezon,” he added.

Aside from Suarez and Chan, also gracing the event were PSL vice president Ray Alao, Commissioner Leo Isaac, PBA great Benjie Paras, Quezon second district sports coordinator Jonas Guiao and Tiaong councilor Tom Ilao.

Suarez thanked the PSL for giving the second district of Quezon the chance to host the joust expected to be participated in by a slew of pro teams from different regions in the country and an international selection beefed up by Filipino cagers.

“I would like to thank our partners at the PSL for allowing us to partner with them in this major sports event that will be happening at the second district of Quezon province. Ito po ang unang pagkakataon na magkakaroon ng ganitong kalaking liga sa aming lalawigan at natutuwa po ang aming distrito,” he said.

“We are very happy because the Pilipinas Super League decided to partner with us so we could really push the opportunity to bring the second district into the sports calendar of the Philippines.”
