ARMED with the Premier Volleyball League’s top pick, ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles coach Jeffrey Yee yesterday spilled the beans on the player they intend to draft: former La Salle varsity star Thea Gagate.

“Consensus naman iyon kung sino ang No. 1 diyan (Gagate) kasi mas kailangan mo and height and mobility, “ Yee told reporters while scouting the draft aspirants in the first day of the PVL combine at the Gameville Ballpark in Mandaluyong.

Although he still has to talk with the owners of the squad that formerly carried the name of Strong Group Athletics, the respected mentor agreed with his coaching staff that the versatile 6-foot-2 middle blocker is the player they want.

PVL Most Valuable Players Brooke Van Sickle of Petro Gazz, Choco Mucho ace Sisi Rondina and Cignal’s Ces Molina took turns in drawing the lottery order for the draft at the TV 5 Media Center in Mandaluyong last Monday night.

The draw was supervised by PVL commissioner Sherwin Meneses in the presence of Games and Amusements Board representative Eliza Roman.

Picking second behind the Thunderbelles, who finished last in the All-Filipino Conference, are Capital1 Solar Spikers, followed by Galeries Tower at No. 3 and Farm Fresh at No. 4.
