Sulit new judo chief via acclamation

KEEN on infusing fresh blood in its leadership ranks, the Philippine Judo Federation elected former national team standout and Ateneo varsity coach Alexander Sulit as its new president via acclamation during the PJF Congress over the weekend at the Bayview Park Hotel in Manila.

Sulit, 46, took over from Dave Carter, who held the top post for 14 years. Carter remained on the PJF board after being elected as secretary general.

Also elected unopposed were Atty. Vicente Fernandez as executive vice president, Marilyn Versoza, treasurer, Emir Reyes, sports director; Luleo Panganiban, referees director; Christopher George Borja, education and kata director; and Renan Camarquiz, marketing director.

Sent by the Philippine Olympic Committee to observe the proceedings was PhilCycling Secretary General Atty. Billy Sumagui, also the POC Membership Committee Chairman.
