VAST improving sophomore spiker Shevana Laput has been taking center stage for defending champion La Salle, leading the Lady Spikers in their bid to win another title.
The Filipino-Australian has been the focal point of La Salle since the absence of reigning MVP Angel Canino, who remains sidelined with a right arm injury.
The 6-foot-2 Laput showed the way for the Taft-based crew in its 11th win in 13 battles, beating the Ateneo Blue Eagles 25-12, 25-12, 25-18 last Sunday.
“I’m just glad that I can contribute to the team, but mostly, I’m proud of my teammates because if you look at the stats here, you can see that everyone did something,” Laput said. “I’m just glad that we’re working together as a team and going into this last game as well as (hopefully in) the finals.
“I’m really glad to see how we’re performing and we’re very excited to show everybody that we’re the Lady Spikers and this is how we play,” she added.
She is also convinced she can only get better.
