REIGNING Spikers’ Turf Open Conference MVP Jao Umandal and three more promising players have found a new home, signing up with Cignal yesterday.
The HD Spikers announced the arrival of Umandal, Mark Calado, Lloyd Josafat and Ruvince Abrot in a social media post.
Cignal posted a photo of its four new players in the Cignal HQ, together with their women counterparts, for a homecoming visit.
Before joining Cignal, Umandal played for the AMC-Cotabato Spikers and led the squad to a runner-up finish last March.
Umandal, 25, an outside spiker and former University of Santo Tomas star, bagged the MVP plum in the Open Conference
Calado and Josafat, on the other hand, have made some noise in the UAAP, displaying their offensive might and leadership for their respective schools, Far Eastern University and University of the East.
Abrot previously suited up for the Vanguard Volley Hitters.
Last May, Umandal and Josafat played for the national men’s volleyball team in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.
The arrival of the four players is expected to prop up Cignal’s campaign in the next conference of Spikers’ Turf, tentatively to start in October.
Umandal, Calado, Josafat, and Abrot will be under coach Dexter Clamor and will join forces with Marck Espejo, Ysay Marasigan, JP Bugaoan, and Manuel Sumanguid.
