KAI Sotto yesterday showed another facet of his game and his team reaped handsome dividends.

The 7-foot-3 Sotto held his ground on the defensive end to help Adelaide hack out an 82-71 victory over Cairns in Australia’s National Basketball League at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Sotto wound up with five points, five rebounds, and three blocks in 12 minutes of play as the 36ers battled back from an early 14-point deficit to stun the Taipans.

Daniel Johnson scored 18 points, on top of nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks for

Adelaide, while Mitch McCarron added 14 points, six boards, five steals, and four dimes.
Sunday Dech had 13 points, three rebounds, and five assists. Dusty Hannahs also scored 10 off the bench for the 36ers.

The win atoned for Adelaide’s 67-93 loss to the same foes last December and hiked the 36ers’ record to 5-7.

The CJ Bruton-mentored Adelaide five tackles the Illawarra Hawks this Friday at the WIN Entertainment Centre.

Stephen Zimmerman paced the Taipans with 21 points and 14 rebounds, but it was not enough to save Cairns from absorbing its fourth straight loss and drop to 3-8.
