Smashers target semis vs Crossovers

ILOCOS NORTE. – Powerhouse Creamline seeks to formalize its stint in the semifinals when it shoots for its sixth straight victory at the expense of a slumping Chery Tiggo side even as Choco Mucho tries to move closer to the next round against BaliPure in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference here Friday.

The Cool Smashers assured themselves of at least a playoff for a Final Four seat with a clinical 25-12, 25-3, 25-15 win over the BaliPure Water Defenders late Wednesday, a 60-minute demolition spiked by a record rout in the second set that extended their unbeaten run to five at the PCV Socio-Civic Cultural Center in Bacarra.

Against the Crossovers at 7 p.m., the defending back-to-back champions will dealwith a team that started out with a lot of promise with two straight victories but has lost two of its last three games to slip to fourth at 3-2.

Two crucial matches are also on tap in another busy day with the Flying Titans out to keep the Cool Smashers within sight against the Water Defenders at 1 p.m. while the Petro Gazz Angels likewise step up their semifinal drive against the Perlas Spikers at 4 p.m.
