Smart/MVP Taekwondo Poomsae Championship up

ABOUT 1,500 taekwondo jins from over 50 teams return to action when the 2022 Smart/MVP Sports Foundation National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships get going this weekend (July 16-17) at the Ayala Malls, Manila Bay.

Taekwondo Philippines announced that only full-vaccinated players are allowed to participate in the competition set to start at 9 a.m.

Martial art enthusiasts and sports aficionados, especially children who are interested to learn the sport, are invited to watch.

Poomsae (forms) uses attack and defense techniques against imaginary opponents. It is a way of understanding and practicing every aspect of taekwondo, basic technique, breathing control, balance, co-ordination and concentration.

Participants come from various regions, with competitions set in four events, namely, individual, pair, team, and free style for colored and blackbelts.

Among the aarly registrants are top poomsae squads from FEU, Ateneo, Xavier School, Meta Gym, Superbodies, UP Diliman, St. Paul of Paranauq, DPS, and PNP.

The event is supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, and Milo.
