THE ball is now with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial yesterday said special Gilas Pilipinas draftees can finally suit up for their mother teams if and when the SBP gives the green light.
Five amateur standouts, namely, Isaac Go (Terrafirma), Rey Suerte (Blackwater), Matt Nieto (NLEX), Allyn Bulanadi (Alaska), and Mike Nieto (Rain or Shine) were selected in the special draft in 2019. They have yet to play for the teams that selected them, with their contracts set to expire next month.
The amiable pro league chief maintained the SBP still has the final say whether to release the players or not.
