FILIPINO-Japanese Yuka Saso had another uneven round on Sunday, shooting a two-under par 70 to wind up in a seven-way tie for 14th at the close of the Japan Women’s Open Golf Champion at the Classic Golf Club in Fukuoka, Japan.
Twelve shots adrift entering the final round, Saso never really got her game going, starting with a bogey on hole no. 1 en route to nines of 34-36. She had four birdies against two birdies on the way to a 72-hole tally of 286 over the par-72, 6,761-yard layout in the seaport city 1,000 kilometers southwest of Tokyo.
Two-year Japanese LPGA tour campaigner Erika Hara shot a final-round 4-under 68 for a total output of 272 and a four-stroke win over compatriot Sakura Koiwai (68-276) to pocket the top prize of 22.5 million yen (P10.35 million).
Next stop for Saso in the lucrative Japanese tour is the Kanahide Beauty Yarabe Open set Oct. 8 to 10 at the Kanahide Kise Country Club in Okinawa, Japan offering a total pot of 22 million yen (P10.1 million).
