Saso closes with 68, ties for 15th place

YUKA Saso settled down to a 68 yesterday (Sunday in Europe) and finished in a six-way tie for 15th at the close of the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open at the Dumbarnie Links in Fife, Scotland.

After a shaky 74 in the third round, Saso found her putting touch back to sinkseven birdies against three bogeys, including back-to-back on holes No. 8 and 9, over the par-72, 6,584-yard layout in the Scottish city overlooking the North Sea.

The reigning US Women’s Open champion wound up with a four-round total of 281, netting $21,266 (around P1.07 million), finishing 10 shots behind American champion Ryann O’Toole, who scored her breakthrough win in the US LPGA tour by firing 64 for 271. She pocketed $225,000 (P11.3 million).

Saso is expected to remain in the British Isles as she guns for her next major title in the AIG Women’s Open, formerly known as the British Women’s Open, at the Carnoustie Golf Links in Carnoustie, Scotland, teeing off on Thursday. — Bong Pedralvez
