BUOYED by their opening day success, Letran and defending champion San Beda square off today in the 98th NCAA juniors’ basketball tournament at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Gym.
The battle between the Squires and the Red Cubs, both sporting 1-0 cards, is slated at 2:30 p.m.
Letran trounced San Sebastian Golden 91-86 last Wednesday on opening day, while San Beda annihilated Lyceum 94-74.
The Intramuros-based Squires are expected to lean on Andrei Gemao, Jonathan Manalili, Jolo Navarro, George Diamante and Arwin Alforque.
The Red Cubs will rely on Christopher Hubilla, John Lopez, Andrei Dungo, Marc Reyes, and Jhermaine Lecciones.
Colliding at 4:30 p.m. are the Arellano Braves and San Sebastian Golden Staglets, who are both looking to notch their first victory.
The Braves fell short in their opening match, losing 69-71 to the Perpetual Help Junior Altas.
James Moore, Paul Reguera, Gian Mendoza, Ivan Panapanaan and Nade Pondoc will carry the fight for Arellano.
Mark Danag, Mark De Leon, Stephen Jardinico, Rodge Balbao, and Marc Parba will be counted upon by San Sebastian to deliver.
