HOW Thirdy Ravena and Dwight Ramos adapt to coach Chot Reyes’ dribble-drive offense will determine whether they would make the final Gilas line-up for the first window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers.

“First time ko under kay coach Chot (Reyes), with the dribble-drive as the primary offense.

Iyon ang malaking pagbabago for me,” Ravena said on Radyo5 92.3 News FM’s Power and Play program hosted by former PBA commissioner Noli Eala.

“Itinuro naman nila at iyon ang pinakauna nilang ina-address. They’re very hands on sa pagtulong sa akin to try and get the offense and pick it up as soon as I could,” he added.

Ramos said he is doing his best to learn the system of Reyes which brought Gilas teams to new heights in the past.

“I’m learning from everything (coach Chot Reyes is) saying, the plays,” Ramos said. “We’re just coming along and getting familiar playing with everybody within a different system now.”

Both Japan B. League imports with San-En and Toyama, respectively, Ravena and Ramos heeded the call of flag and country anew for a virtually no-bearing window since the Nationals already have a slot in the World Cup next year as one of the hosts.

Along with Juan Gomez de Liaño, William Navarro, Jaydee Tungcab, Tzaddy Rangel, and naturalized player Ange Kouame, the pool is toughening up for the first window at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center in Katipunan.

NorthPort star Robert Bolick and former Ateneo High School standout LeBron Lopez have also joined the pool.

The nine players will be backstopped by players from defending PBA Philippine Cup champion TNT.
