WORLD youth champion Rose Jean Ramos flexed her muscles last Monday night to hoist a remarkable haul of four gold, one silver and one bronze in two divisions of the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Competing in the 13 to 17 youth class, Ramos, 17, swept all the gold medals in the 45-kilogram division with lifts of 70, 83 and 153 kilos in the snatch, clean-and-jerk and total, respectively.
Vying in the 15-20-year-old junior division, the Zamboanga City lass won a gold in the snatch (70 kg), silver in the combined lifts (153 kg.) and bronze in the clean-jerk (83 kg) to round out her strong performance in the Asian meet.
“The coaches decided that Rose Jean compete in both events to continue her seasoning in international competition,” said weightlifting chief Monico Puentevella.
