ACTION in the Premier Volleyball League resumes on June 29 when the curtains for the Invitational Conference go up.
PVL tournament director Tony Boy Liao confirmed last Saturday night that the Invitational tourney will start after the national women’s volleyball team competes in the 2023 Asian Volleyball Confederation Challenge Cup next month.
The Asian meet is set to be played on June 18 to 24 in Gresik, East Java, Indonesia.
All members of the national squad are from the PVL, the only professional league in the country.
“(It’s) to give way to the National team which will participate in the AVC Challenge Cup in Indonesia from June 18-25,” Liao told Malaya Business Insight.
“The National team members are all playing in their club teams. Creamline has 7 players, Choco Mucho has 2, Cignal has 2, Chery Tiggo has 1, PLDT has 1 and Akari has 1,” he said.
The national squad is composed of Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Diana Mae Carlos, Jema Galanza, Ced Domingo and Kyla Atienza from Creamline, Choco Mucho’s Kat Tolentino and Cherry Nunag Mylene Paat from Chery Tiggo, Cignal’s Gel Cayuna and Glaudine Troncoso, Bang Pineda of Akari and Dell Palomata of PLDT.
The winner of the continental tourney will represent Asia in the FIVB Women’s Challenger Cup.
