WHILE his team is one of the hottest in the league, Nueva Ecija coach Jerson Cabiltes is not one to look past their opponents.
“I’m giving everybody a chance to get a feel of the ball game and I’m trying different combinations each game,” Cabiltes said. “So, when the time comes na may malakas kaming kalaban, ready na kung sino magkaka-sabay sa court.
“We are still in a learning process and a team in progress,” he added.
The Capitals’ resolve will be tested anew when they clash with CV Siniloan tonight in the Pilipinas Super League President’s Cup at the Paco Arena.
The game is set at 8 o’clock, with the Nueva Ecija five of amiable businessman-sportsman Bong Cuevas, also known as the Rice Vanguards in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, bidding to notch a six straight win and keep its unbeaten run going.
The Capitals will go into the duel armed with a 92-73 dumping of 1Munti last Saturday in the league spearheaded by PBA great Allan Caidic as Commissioner.
This early, Cabiltes said his squad is bracing for tough foes in their title bid.
“We have yet to face the strongest teams in the league,” he said. “Doon natin makikita talaga kung paano magrespond ang mga players at makita ang chemistry as a team.”
The likes of former pro Roi Sumang, Billy Ray Robles, and Axel Doromal will be counted upon anew to deliver by Nueva Ecija.
