THE Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will hold the Sports Nutrition Day, a two-day seminar on sports nutrition and health, designed for both regular and para athletes, with the theme “Evolving Field of Sports Nutrition: Elevating Athletes’ Performance,” on May 6-7 at the PhilSports Complex.

This seminar will provide essential nutritional guidance and practices that will help athletes optimize their preparation for upcoming major competitions, including the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, and the Olympics.

The Sports Nutrition Day will cover the following topics: “Practical and Sustainable Approaches to Weight and Body Composition Management for Athletes”, “Optimizing Hydration for Elite Athletes”, “Caffeine for Athletes: Benefits and Best Practices”, “How Does Recovery Nutrition Enhance the Athletes’ Performance?”, and “Understanding Supplements: What Athletes Need to Know?”, with our partner resource speakers from the Sports Nutrition Association of the Philippines, University of the Philippines, and PSC Medical Scientific Athlete Services (MSAS) – Sports Nutrition Unit.

“We want to educate our national athletes and coaches on nutrition, which really is a crucial part of an athlete’s life, especially towards achieving a high-level performance. Champions always care about their nutrition as much as they do with their training,” said Commissioner Matthew Gaston, the Commissioner-in-Charge of the project under the Health and Wellness Program.

Around 100 national athletes and national coaches are expected to participate each day, with the second day exclusively dedicated to para athletes and their coaches.
