PLDT launched its campaign on a rousing note, scoring a runaway 25-18, 25-19, 25-14 victory yesterday over shorthanded Chery Tiggo in the PVL Invitational Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Middle blocker Mika Reyes starred for the High Speed Hitters with 15 points, 12 from attacks and three blocks, while opposite hitter Chin Basas delivered 14 markers.
Jules Samonte and Fiola Mae Ceballos contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, while setter and team captain Rhea Dimaculangan had 21 excellent sets for PLDT.
“We’re getting the kind of chemistry missing in the past. We wanted to start strong, and our goal was to win our first game and hope to sustain the momentum,” High Speed Hitters coach George Pascua said. — Abby Toralba
