THE Philippine hopes to get back on track when it faces dangerous host Cambodia today in the AFF Under-23 Youth Football Championship at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
After scrambling to forge a 2-all draw with Timor Leste last Monday, the Filipino booters will eye their first win in Group A against the Cambodians, who opened their campaign with a 6-0 rout of Brunei. The game is set at 7 p.m. (8 p.m. in Manila).
Although not totally satisfied with the outcome of their last match, British mentor Stewart Hall expressed the hope that wards would do better as he makes adjustments against the hosts.
“Of course, we aim to better against Cambodia but we know that will be another difficult game considering we will be playing the home team,” Hall said. “They will be giving us a different set of problems.”
With majority of his players in their early 20s or under, the English tactician said they are using the event as part of their seasoning process for the Vietnam Southeast Asian Games in May.
