Pinoy skater finishes 4th in World tilt

YOUTHFUL Filipino-American skater Peter Groseclose narrowly missed a podium finish, clocking one minute and 27.280 seconds to wind up a close fourth in the men’s 1,000-meter race of the ISU Jr. World Cup 1 at the Rink Twente in Enschede, Netherlands over the weekend.

In a race that went down the wire, the Washington-based Groseclose, 16, was just an eye-blink behind South Korea’s Han Byeonchan, who took the bronze medal in 1:26.29.

China’s Li Kun (1:26.339) won while his compatriot Zhang Tianyi (1:26.387) finished second.

The skater, whose mother Victoria de Guzman Groseclose was born in San Juan, emerged as the No. 4 among 50 entries in the event and was sixth out of 55 participants in the men’s 500-meter event in a time 41.642 seconds topped by South Korea’s Shin Dong Min in 41 seconds flat.
