PATRICK Nuqui and Jordan Dinham combined for 2867 pinfalls last Tuesday to finish ninth in the men’s doubles of the 26th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships at the SCAA Bowling Center in Hong Kong.
Nuqui had a six-games series of 233, 211, 266, 254, 244 and 215 for an aggregate score of 1423 and a 237.17 average while Dinham had lines of 255, 235, 256, 246, 202 and 250 for a 1444 tally and 240.67 clip.
Despite their stellar play, the Pinoy duo finished 104 pins behind the Singaporean tandem of Timothy Tham (1478-246.33) and Muhammad Jaris Goh (1512-252.17), who teamed up for 2991 to bag the gold medal.
Malaysia’s Syazirol Shamsudin (1427-239.50) and Tun Hakim (1540-256.67) took the silver medal with a 2967 tally while the South Korean pair of Park Donghuk (1450-241.67) and Park Geonha (1468-244.67) had 2918 and settled for the bronze.
The Filipina pair of Krizziah Tabora-Macatula (1331-221.83) and Lara Posadas-Wong (1352-225.33) tallied a combined score of 2283 and was the country’s best finisher in the women’s doubles, placing 10th.
The tournament, which serves as a qualifying competition to the IBF world championships, resumed yesterday with the trio’s event in both the men’s and women’s divisions. — Bong Pedralvez
