BELIEVING that engaging in local football and the national teams will be a sound investment, leading digital financial institution Gotyme Bank has decided to support the national men’s and women’s sides for three years.
The landmark partnership between the bank and the Philippine Football Federation national senior teams was formalized yesterday at the Westin Manila Hotel in the presence of Gotyme Bank CEO and president Nate Clark, fellow CEO Abet Tinio and PFF national teams’ director Freddy Gonzalez.
“We were an audacious enterprise when we began GoTyme in 2019 and we find similarities in the audacity of Freddy Gonzalez and his vision for both national teams,” Clark, a native of South Africa, site of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, noted.
“We both share the values of resilience, ambition and grit,” he added.
“We really would like to thank Gotyme for believing in us and partnering with our senior national teams because it has been a struggle for Philippine football for the last few years,” Gonzalez stressed.
“Filipinos are world-class and I believe that in any field and any setting, we have what it takes to compete with the world’s best. I truly believe that, like what we’ve seen with Mann Pacquiao, Paeng Nepomuceno, Hidylin Diaz and Carlos Yulo,” he pointed out.
He explained that “in the right environment and given the right tools and the right support we have the grit and talent to shine. From the very beginning, we have been very clear with our goal for the national football teams: we want to compete on the world stage at the soonest possible time.
“If we can achieve success here, it will help Filipinos believe that we can achieve success in anything that we commit ourselves to. For ambition without action is just plain delusion.”
Also a football enthusiast like Clark, Tinio said that like the PH squads, “we believe that GoTyme is a scrappy team but with big ambitions globally. Making banking beautiful and banking on the beautiful game is like the cherry on top.”
As part of their collaboration with the PFF and the national football teams, Gotyme will be bankrolling the Gotyme Bank Cup, an invitational tournament featuring teams from South Africa, Indonesia and Singapore in early September during the FIFA window.
