MHICAELA Belen and the other young but promising players of the Philippine women’s volleyball team begin their campaign in the first leg of the SEA V.League women’s tournament first leg today in Vietnam.
The Filipina spikers go up against the Tran Thi Thanh Thuy-led Vietnam side at 8 p.m. (Manila time) in the main event of the opening day battle.
Joining Belen, the first UAAP women’s Rookie-MVP winner, in bannering the flag are National University Lady Bulldogs teammates Alyssa Solomon, Camilla Lamina, Evangeling Alinsug, Erin Pangilinan, Shaira Jardio, Minerva Maaya and Myrtle Escanlar.
Also on the team are Ateneo’s Roma Doromal and AC Miner, University of the Philippines’ Nina Ytang and Kamille Cal as well as former high school standouts Arah Panique and Abegail Pono.
“We’re confident in the capability of these young stars seen as the future of Philippine volleyball,” said Philippine National Volleyball Federation president Ramon “Tats” Suzara.
