THE Philippine Volcanoes swept their final matches in the men’s and women’s divisions of the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy to gain promotion back to Division 1 of both categories at the conclusion of the tournament in Kathmandu, Nepal over the weekend.
First on the pitch were Volcanoes, who surged past Chinese-Taipei 27-14 in the championship game.
Their female counterparts eked out a 7-5 win over India for a sweep of both divisions and made their way back to the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Series in 2025.
The men’s Volcanoes slipped past Sri Lanka 19-12 in the semis while the women ran roughshod over Indonesia 24-10 in advancing to the finals.
The two-day competition featured 15 men’s and eight women’s squads.
