THE country’s campaign in the coming Winter Olympics in Beijing and the historic win that gave the Philippine women’s football team a first ever ticket to the FIFA World Cup will be the main discussion in the virtual Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum today, Tuesday.
Chef De Mission Bones Floro and Philippine Ski and Snow Board Federation president Jim Apelar will talk about the bid of the Philippines in the Winter Games where skier Asa Miller will be the country’s lone representative. The 21-year-old Fil-Am will compete in the slalom and giant slalom, respectively, in his second straight Olympics.
The other half of the two-part session that starts at 10 a.m. will have Philippine Football Federation President Mariano “Nonong” Araneta and secretary general Ed Gastanes reliving and discussing the impact of the women’s team advancing to the 2023 World Cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The Filipina booters stunned Chinese Taipei in a penalty shootout 4-3 early Monday to reach the semifinals of the AFC Asian Cup in India and clinched a landmark berth in the World Cup.
The weekly Forum is presented by San Miguel Corp., Milo, Philippine Olympic Committee, Amelie Hotel Manila, Braska Restaurant, Unilever, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., and social media and webcast partner Prime Edge.
