PROVING it wanted it more, Perpetual Help tripped San Beda University 20-25, 25-13, 22-25, 25-17, 15-6 yesterday to breathe life into its Final Four bid in the 99th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Shai Omipon went on attack mode, scoring a team-high 26 points, while reigning MVP Mary Rhose Dapol scattered 17 hits, including critical ones late in the fifth and deciding set that tilted the balance in the Lady Altas’ favor.

Perpetual scored its third win in five outings in a tie with Arellano U that propelled them back to the magic four.

In the other game, Mapua likewise improved to 3-2 with a 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 win over Jose Rizal U.

The Lady Bombers slipped to 1-4.

College of St. Benilde leads the way while Lyceum of the Philippines U currently sits at No. 2 with pristine 5-0 and 4-0 records, respectively.

The win somehow soothed the pain of a heartbreaking 25-21, 24-26, 18-25, 25-22, 15-11 defeat to Lyceum last Saturday in a game where Dapol went on a mammoth 35-point tear.

While Dapol scored less this time, she made sure they were crucial points as she connected on three of the team’s last six points to fend off San Beda’s late fightback.

Perpetual overcame a 27-point game from power-hitting Angel Habacon, whose team crashed into its fourth defeat in five outings.Smart Sports reigns supreme in PSA Cup
