THE Philippine Basketball Association has postponed all scheduled games this week until it hears from the Games and Amusements Board allowing the league to continue its Governors Cup tournament.
The league sent a letter to GAB yesterday and hopes to get a reply within the next few days.
The pro league also needs the approval of Local Government Units (LGUs) where it intends to hold games. Should the GAB allow the PBA to go ahead, a nod from the LGUs is still needed before it could conduct games.
Metro Manila has been placed under Alert Level 3 following the sudden surge of COVID cases yesterday up to Jan. 15.
Before the latest surge of COVID cases, the PBA has been allowed a 50% percent capacity crowd at the Araneta Coliseum. Its Christmas Day double header that featured games between NLEX and Phoenix and Ginebra against Magnolia drew a crowd of 4,843.
