CASIO G-Shock Philippines yesterday gifted national track and field athletes bound for the Vietnam Southeast Asian Games barely six weeks from now with G-Shock high-performance watches.

“We would like to thank G-Shock Philippines for this token of inspiration to our national athletes going to the Vietnam Southeast Asian Games, who aim to excel and do their country proud in the competition,” athletics chief Philip Ella Juico said during the event at the Tokyo Store at the Uptown Mall in Taguig City.

“We appreciate this gesture of support considering the challenges and struggles our athletes have had to face amid the pandemic and the uphill battle they will face in Vietnam.

It shows that they have not been forgotten,” Juico said.

“We know how difficult it has been for our athletes to find a suitable venue for training amid the pandemic and we hope our show of support will move them to perform their best in Hanoi,” Roy Chua, whose company is the exclusive distributor of the famed Japanese watch brand, said.

“We wish all our athletes the best and may they make our country proud in the Vietnam SEA Games,” said Chua, whose own daughter, Xiandi, will see action for the national swimming squad in the regional sportsfest scheduled May 12 to 23 in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi and neighboring areas.

“Because G-Shock is known as one of the toughest watch brands, we would like to showcase the ‘lakas at tatag ng atletang Pilipino’ in making it as the official timing partner of our national track and field team to SEA Games,” Patafa marketing officer Judith Staples said.
