AFTER a so-so start, ace wingman Bobby Ray Parks Jr. is fast proving his worth with Nagoya in the Japan B. League.

Parks said he and the Diamond Dolphins could only get better.

“I feel great. It’s definitely a steppingstone, we’ll continue to build as a team. We’ll continue to build trust, continue to build chemistry,” Parks said.

“I appreciate coach for allowing me to play and my teammates for trusting me and believing in me. We got the job done and hopefully, continue to grow,” he added.

The 6-foot-4 Parks, who began his stint in the Japan league with a nagging calf strain injury, also downplayed his team’s two wins over Dwight Ramos and Toyama last weekend, saying Ramos is “up and coming.”

“Definitely, I have love for him. He’s up and coming for sure, a great player, and I’m just glad that we Filipinos have the opportunity to play basketball in such a great country here,” Parks said.

“We just want to represent our country the best way we could and represent you guys the best way we could.”

Parks scored 15 points on 3-of-6 shooting from deep, on top of four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in Nagoya’s 94-68 whipping of the Grouses last Saturday at the Toyama City gymnasium.

He wound up with 17 markers, seven boards, two dimes, and four steals as the Diamond Dolphins repeated with a 99-74 drubbing of Toyama last Sunday and improved to 3-3.

The son of the late PBA great import Bobby Sr. said his teammates are making him look great and promised to lead the squad to new heights.

“There’s a lot of great competition over here in Japan. My teammates are great guys on and off the floor and they just make it easier to go into practice each day and get better and work hard,” he said.
