THE Generals outdueled 31 other teams to rule the World Balance 3×3 Streetball League over the weekend at the Trinoma Activity Center in Quezon City.
Jerico Sevillano steered the Paranaque-based crew to a dominant 21-7 victory against Underground in the title match and bagged the P100,000 cash prize and P50,000 worth of World Balance gift certificates.
Sevillano’s stellar play was felt all over as he produced eight points and four rebounds to claim the crown and the Most Valuable Player award. Johnmar Sapico added seven points, Joewelle Soriano had six, and Roque Esoce rounded out the quartet.
Sevillano was joined by Underground’s Rengie Usi, John Christopher Samson (The Android Show), Frian Sulapas (Sulapas Bros), and Eugene Rhobin Caliso (Eudex) in the Mythical Team as they all took home P5,000 worth of World Balance gift certificates.
“We’re humbled by the feedback that we’ve got in staging this one-day league and this only inspires World Balance to stage more 3×3 streetball tournaments in the future,” said Lyn Go, World Balance marketing and creatives director.
“Easily, the World Balance 3×3 Streetball League is a success and we’re looking at holding this event annually to inspire more players to take the sport,” said Eric Nadurata, PR and events manager.
Thirty-two teams from all over Metro Manila participated in this inaugural staging, with World Balance ambassador Nards Pinto of Ginebra gracing the event.
