BIANCA Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina fortified their standings in the top 60 of the Olympic women’s golf rankings released last Tuesday by the International Golf Federation from its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland and posted on the IGF website.
Pagdanganan, who has recorded top three finishes in her last two stops on the US LPGA tour, moved up from No. 49 to 43 while Ardina moved slightly higher from No. 60 to 59.
The top 60 finishers in the IGF women Olympic Golf rankings by the end of the June 24, 2024 cut-off date are eligible to play in the Paris Summer Games women’s golf tournament set Aug. 7 to 10, 2024 at the Albatross course of Le Golf National located in Guyancourt, 40.6 kilometers southwest of Paris.
Pagdanganan is eyeing a second trip back to the Olympics after making her debut in the Tokyo Summer Games in 2021 while Ardina hopes to finally see action for the country in the quadrennial sports showcase after skipping the 2016 Rio Olympiad due to the zika virus outbreak in Rio de Janeiro.
Even the LPGA tour has taken notice of Pagdanganan’s sudden meteoric rise in an article posted on its website yesterday (Tuesday in the US) and written by Jennifer Meyer, LPGA Manager of Digital Operation.
“Bianca Pagdanganan came up short (at the Ascendant LPGA) in Texas after missing out on her first LPGA tour win but she still had the move of the week, jumping 73 spots in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings to No. 160, the highest rank of her career since June of 2021,” Meyer wrote.
“With limited opportunities to compete on the LPGA tour, having lost full playing status for the 2023 season, Pagdanganan has seized each playing opportunity to steadily work toward regaining her position in the world rankings and the Race to CME Globe,” she added.
