PARADIGM Sports Management chief Audie Attar sought a preliminary injunction from a California superior court on Friday (Saturday in Manila) in his bid to stop the world welterweight title clash between unbeaten Errol Spence Jr. and Manny Pacquiao on Aug. 21 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Attar also asked the court to order Pacquiao to deposit “8,125,581” in an escrow account the management outfit believes it is owed for the scheduled world title fight.

Pacquiao’s camp filed a counter suit against Paradigm, claiming it was the promotions company that failed to live up to the deal, according to a story by Dan Rafael on the World Boxing News website yesterday (Saturday in the US).

This was an offshoot of the case filed by Paradigm last month against Pacman for alleged breach of contract plus damages, naming MP Promotions chief Sean Gibbons among the respondents.

“Manny Pacquiao’s cross-complaint filed (Friday) reveals in detail the complete sham nature of Paradigm’s complaint,” Pacquiao legal counsel, Dale Kinsella, said in a statement. “We look forward to exposing Paradigm’s conduct in front of a jury and recovering both general and punitive damages.”

Rafael quoted a source that both cases would be heard online before a judge on Thursday (Friday in Manila).

The Paradigm suit filed in June alleged that Pacquiao agreed to pay the outfit “10 percent of income receivedand 20 percent of income derived from marketing, commercial and media contracts.”

It also asked that Pacquiao return to Paradigm, which also promotes popular Irish mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor, the $3.3 million (roughly $164.998 million) it gave to the boxer when the entered into a management agreement in February 2020.

The company claimed it was never consulted or made aware of the negotiations with Spence, who holds both the International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Council welterweight championships.
