FOUR more Olympic boxing hopefuls, led by Tokyo Olympic Games silver medalist Carlo Paalam, swing into action this Friday in the second and last World Qualification Tournament at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
A total of 51 quota places — 28 for men and 23 for women — for the Paris Olympics will be at stake in Olympic 13 weight categories (seven for men and six for women), with Paalam and his teammates hoping to be among them when the competition ends on June 2.
Competing in the 57kg class, Paalam is seeking his second straight Olympic appearance, the same mission of veteran Rogen Ladon, a 2016 Rio Olympian, who will vie in the 51kg division.
Hoping to be among the chosen few are Criztian Pitt Laurente in the 63.5kg category and Hergie Bacyadan, who will seek a Paris ticket in the women’s 75kg division.
