ZAMBOANGA City’s Jhodie Peralta bagged two golds and a silver, stamping her class in the 55kg youth division of the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Doha, Qatar last Saturday.
Peralta’s mints came in the snatch and total lifts with hoists of 84 and 184 kilos, respectively, while settling for silver in the clean-and-jerk where he hoisted 100 kilos in the meet organized by the Asian Weightlifting Federation.
Slipping her grasp was the clean-and-jerk, where the gold was taken by India’s Koyel Bar, who lifted 103 kilos and also had a silver in the total lifts (182) and bronze in the snatch (79). Vietnam’s Luon Than Thuyen had a silver in the snatch (80) and a bronze in the combined lifts (178).
Peralta’s golden double boosted the country’s haul to four after Aldrin Colonia had two in the clean-and-jerk and total lifts in the men’s youth 49kg event while teammate Eron Borres secured the gold in the snatch.
