STEEPLECHASERS Junel Gobotia and Joida Gagnao and walkathoner Carlos de Imus bagged a silver medal while hurdler Clinton Bautista won a bronze in the Thailand Open Track and Field Championships that ended last Monday in Bangkok, Thailand.
A fifth-placer in his forte in the 2023 Cambodia Southeast Asian Games, Gobotia clocked nine minutes and 22.11 seconds for second in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase while Gagnao timed 11:52.32 for runner-up honors on the distaff side.
Aspiring to be a top prospect in the technically demanding walking race in the 33rd Thailand SEA Games in December, De Imus also placed second in the men’s 10-kilometer walk in 46:53.01.
A back-to-back SEA Games gold medalist, Bautista clocked 14.21 seconds in checking in third in the men’s 110-meter hurdles to round up the podium finishers fielded by the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association as part of the national team build-up for the Thailand SEA Games.
