THE future of Philippine taekwondo takes center stage when they showcase their stuff in the annual Smart/MVPSF National New Face of the Year Championships on May 17-18 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
The Philippine Taekwondo Association expects another banner field in the two-day event designed for Kyorugi (free sparring) practitioners, all dreaming to be part of the national team in the near future.
The PTA said the tournament highlights the progress of the sport in the country, apart from allowing newcomers to demonstrate their ability in effective techniques and styles.
Supported by the Philippine Olympic Committee, Milo and the Philippine Sports Commission, the event will feature action in Senior, Junior Cadet, Grade School and Toddler for both male and female jins. Each category also has novice and advanced divisions.
All affiliated chapters and branches, including those in the military service, across the country are expected to field their top bets.
Parents interested in enrolling their children and sports enthusiasts are invited to witness the event, which starts at 9 a.m. onwards.
