GAMING is now such a powerful force in the digital space that successful gamers are treated like basketball celebrities. The local e-sports scene, encouraged and nurtured by companies like Mineski is getting a much-needed shot-in-the-arm with the coming-in of smart device maker OPPO.
Just recently the tech company made a 4-deal with Globe Telecom, and Riot Games Southeast Asia led by Mineski to kick off waves of eSports Tournaments in for this year.
Led by its Reno 4G and 5G with its immersive gameplay capabilities, as well as the A92 powerhouse, the local esports scene will see more players access gaming as well as connect with game sites. OPPO highlighted that these are but two of their smartphones capable of serious gameplay but these two can provide mobile gamers with the best gaming experience.
“Gaming is a major source of leisure among younger Filipino consumers with 74 percent of the country’s online population engaged in mobile gaming. OPPO is fully committed to support the growing e-sports industry by providing both pro-gamers and amateur gamers with the best gaming platforms and mobile phones that can provide them excellent mobile gaming experience,” Raymond Xia, OPPO Philippines Marketing Director said at a virtual press conference announcing the partnership last week.
OPPO is serious about its involvement in local e-sports and joins with Mineski’s expertise to further grow the thriving gaming industry in the Philippines. OPPO will be involved in the staging of the biggest mobile gaming tournaments in the country – Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League and the Philippine leg of the 2021 League of Legends: Wild Rift SEA Icon Series.
In the past, OPPO has supported the FC Barcelona football team and the Wimbledon tennis tournament. Immersing in e-sports, however, is right in its digital territory. Supporting actual sports gives it a presence in events and marketing, being in e-sports provides a direct connection between gamers to their products.
Among smartphones nominated because of their gaming capabilities is the A92, also called the “entertainment powerhouse.” It is packed with features capable of gaming such as 8GB of RAM and 128GB of ROM for a smoother gaming experience. It is also programmed with OPPO’s latest gaming feature Game Boost 2.0 for an improved screen and touch experience while gaming.
The recently launched Reno5 4G and Reno5 5G are also in the line-up with powerful processors, fast and bright screens, and long-lasting batteries. It also has Bullet Screen Message that provides in-game notification messaging that will be displayed as a burst on the screen, allowing users to receive messages without leaving a game. Also on the Reno series is the Gamer Mode feature lets gamers temporarily tune out interruptions so they can focus on gaming and the Gaming Shortcut Mode that brings the user straight to the gaming page in just one tap.
The Reno5 also has Adjustable Gaming Touch that lets gamers set preferences when it comes to the fluidity and touch responsiveness levels for each game.
“To have OPPO on board is very significant. They have the products to supplement the esports community and their presence validates what we at Mineski are trying to do,” Mark Navarro, Mineski Philippines country manager said adding that OPPO is also a sponsor of Liyab Esports and signed to be one of the sponsors of the National Interschool Cyber League, which is a central project of Mineski’s Youth e-sports Program.
“Our partnership with OPPO is a big step forward in our thrust to deliver excellence to Filipino gamers. OPPO’s support for our leagues ensures that gamers from different walks of life will experience professional-level esports in every level of competition,” he added.
