SIBLINGS Meljohn and Jeymca Aribado subdued the Singaporean duo of Kojiro Tan and Sherilyn Yang 11-9, 11-10 to bag the mixed doubles gold medal in the 11th SICC Marigold Jumbo Doubles Championships over the weekend at the Singapore Island Country Club squash courts.

The Dailida siblings, Aero and Aysa, also took the bronze medal in the same division of the tournament where the Pinoy bets were supported by the Philippine Sports Commission.

Jemyca also teamed up with Aysa Dalida to bag the silver medal in the women’s doubles after losing 8-11 and 3-11 in the finals to Singapore’s Sherilyn Yang ang Nicole Tong while Reymark Begornia and David Pelino took the bronze in the men’s doubles.

“We would like to congratulate all of our athletes who did well in this big tournament. This is just the beginning of our preparations for next year’s big competitions, including the Thailand Southeast Asian Games in December,” said Philippine Squash Academy president Robert Bachmann.

“Big squash tournaments like this give our players good exposure even as we start early in our preparations to qualify for the Los Angeles Olympics when squash makes its debut as a medal sport,” he said.
