Para athletes out to prove worth

BANNERED by Paris Paralympic Games veteran Agustina Bantiloc, a three-man national para archery team is poised to see action in the Asian Para Cup-World Ranking Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand starting tomorrow.

Besides Bantiloc, currently ranked No. 22 in the women’s compound world ratings, the other members are men’s compound archers Marzel Burgos and Angelo Manangdang plus recurve archer Giovanni Ola.

Accompanying them in the trip supported by the Philippine Sports Commission are coaches John Hongitan, Jonathan Josol and Jonathan delos Reyes, who all left for the Thai capital last Monday.

Josol, who coached Bantiloc to a round-of-16 finish in the Paris Paralympic Games, said that 13 countries are vying in the meet sanctioned by World Archery, namely, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Slovenia, Thailand, Taiwan and the US.
