OLYMPIC hopefuls Robyn Brown and Kristina Knott finished fourth and sixth, respectively, in the women’s 400-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash of the Barcelona International meet in Barcelona, Spain last Sunday night (Monday morning in the US).
A few days after both saw action in the Canarias Invitational in Santa Cruz, Spain, Brown clocked a slow time of 58.19 seconds in her forte, more than a second behind Portuguese winner Vera Barbosa (56.90).
Knott, who is eyeing to qualify for the women’s 200-meter race in the Paris Olympic Games, clocked 11.48 seconds in the century dash.
They are expected to return to the US and see action in other competitions in a bid to either meet the entry standard or fall within the quota places of the rankings of their respective events.
With 40 spots up for grabs, the entry standard in the women’s 400-meter hurdles is 54.85 while 48 spots are available in the women’s 200-meter run which has an entry standard of 22.57 seconds.
Brown was ranked No. 35 in the World Athletics Olympic ratings last week while Knott was at No. 35.
