DESPITE a four-game winning streak, Far Eastern University does not intend to keep its feet off the pedal in the 86th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.

The Lady Tamaraws clash with the also-ran UP Fighting Maroons tomorrow, Saturday, at 2 p.m. at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig for their penultimate match, hoping to keep their momentum and stay in the hunt for a twice-to-bear advantage in the Final Four.

The Morayta-based crew bagged their fourth consecutive victory three days ago against University of the East 25-19, 25-15, 22-25, 15-16 that hiked their mark to 8-4.

“Ang lagi kong nire-remind sa kanila na parang wala lang maliligaw kasi alam namin, kilala namin iyong isa’t isa kaya iyon ang sabi ko, huwag masyadong magfocus sa mga bagay na hindi natin kontrolado,” FEU coach Manolo Refugia said.  “Doon tayo sa mga bagay na kontrolado natin.”

The youthful mentor, who guided FEU back to the Final Four in his first year at the helm, said that the Lady Tamaraws, led by Chenie Tagaod, Faida Bakanke, Tin Ubaldo, Jean Asis, and Gerzel Petallo, will lean on their team relationship in their bid to reach the Promised Land as dark horse.

“Siguro iyong relationship namin ng team, so lumalabas naman kasi mas matibay, hindi naman mas matibay, parang nagpundar kami ng maayos na pagsasama para mas mas matibay kami habang naglalaro parang ganoon,” he said.
