NUEVA Ecija will return home to Palayan City as one of the hottest teams in the Pilipinas Super League President’s Cup.
Showing no mercy, the Capitals dismantled the Novaliches QC Warriors 96-74 last Wednesday night for their seventh straight win at The Arena in San Juan.
There were high-fives and brotherly hugs from everyone at the Nueva Ecija bench after the final buzzer–contagious that even team owner, the amiable businessman-sportsman Bong Cuevas and team manager Ivan Cuevas were smiling no end.
While elated with his wards’ emphatic victory, Capitals coach Jerson Cabiltes does not want them to keep their feet off the pedal during the Christman and New Year break.
“Maganda ang ipinakita ng mga bata ngayon. Same intensity from first to third group that’s why we got the lead and sustained it throughout the game,” Cabiltes, who got 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists from veteran forward Bobby Balucanag and 12 markers and three boards from Emman Calo.
“There are still a lot of strong teams who don’t have any losses. We just need to keep in shape during the holiday break,” he added.
Axel Doromal also had 10 and two as Nueva Ecija did an encore to a similarly lopsided 100-85 dumping of the CV Siniloan Daruma Dragons Thursday last week.
For now, Cabiltes and the rest of the Capitals will celebrate their fast start in the meet spearheaded by PBA great Allan Caidic as commissioner before hitting the ground running anew early next year.
