A NEW squad, Capital1 Solar Energy, is making its foray in the new PVL season while the Akari Chargers have named an interim coach.
Veteran mentor Roger Gorayeb will call the shots for the Power Spikers who are handled by sisters Milka and Mandy Romero, daughters of sportsman Mikee Romero, the owner of the NorthPort team in the PBA.
The debuting spikers will take the spot of the defunct F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, guaranteeing the league will still have 12 teams in the new conference set to start Feb. 20.
The Power Spikers began their search for players by holding a two-day tryout yesterday at the San Sebastian College Gym. Gorayeb, also the tactician of the Lady Stags in the NCAA, will return to the PVL after three years.
He last coached the PLDT High Speed Hitters during the bubble season.
The Chargers tapped Raffy Mosuela in lieu of Brazilian Jorge Souza de Brito, who parted ways with the team last December.
“Charging into an exciting new chapter with a new interim head coach leading the way. Coach Raffy Mosuela has taken on the role of interim head coach for the Akari Chargers,” the team said on its social media account.
Mosuela will lead the Chargers in their bid to do better after a seventh-place finish in the second All-Filipino meet last year.
Mainstays Faith Nisperos, Dindin Manabat, Fifi Sharma, Michelle Cobb will be counted upon by Akari to deliver, along with new additions such as middle blocker Ced Domingo and open spiker Grethcel Soltones.
