SAN Beda goes for its eighth straight golden double when the 95th NCAA swimming championships star today at the Sta. Rosa Multi Purpose Complex Swimming Pool in Laguna.
The SBU Sea Lions try to extend their stranglehold in the men’s division for the 18th consecutive season, while the Lady Sea Lions shoot for their own eight-peat in the women’s side.
Trials will start at 8:30 a.m. and the opening ceremonies will take place at 11 a.m. Frank Gusi, the NCAA swimming tournament chief and University of Perpetual Help consultant, said the finals will be held in the afternoon.
Cementing their status as the most successful program in the tournament, the Sea Lions captured their 21st title overall with plenty to spare last year.
San Beda had 1,261.5 points to beat perennial runner-up College of St. Benilde, which had 587 points in far second.
The Lady Sea Lions were equally superior with 1,264 points to prevail over the Lady Blazers, who placed second with 554.25 points.
John Henry Gurango of San Beda University took the men’s season MVP award, while Manuel Victor Perez of Jose Rizal University claimed the Record Breaker honors.
