THE semis cast of the 96th NCAA season juniors online chess tournament has been completed.
Leonel Escote of Lyceum defeated Ronald Canino of Perpetual Help in their quarterfinals match, while Melson John Gallo of Jose Rizal University trounced Celso Sandrejo Jr. of Emilio Aguinaldo College.
With their triumphs, Escote and Gallo will clash in the semis, while the other bracket pits Christian Mark Daluz of host Letran and another Lyceum bet in Paul Matthew Llanillo.
The country’s oldest collegiate league plodded on with its new season with online events, with the basketball and volleyball tournaments getting cancelled. — Michael Jugado
